The Bahamas and Caribbean are alive with music and celebrations, festivals and racing presented in full, living colour throughout the year. When you book your luxury yacht charter according to the many and varied yacht regattas and festivals not only will you be pampered by your professional crew but you will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Caribbean culture and enjoy the party atmosphere.
Some of the celebrations and festivals that we recommend are:
December & January
Though its origins are obscure, Junkanoo is a major street parade and festival, renowned throughout the islands of the Bahamas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. This massive cultural extravaganza is a celebration of the region’s unique traditions and heritage, with costumes, dance, and music inspired by a different theme each time. Preparations for Junkanoo take months, and bring together men, women and children from all different walks of life, absorbing visitors in the vibrant colour and customs of the pageantry and spectacle.
The liveliest and largest of the sensational Bahamas Junkanoo party parades is in Nassau, but you can also experience the exhilarating carnival atmosphere on Grand Bahama Island, Eleuthera and Harbour Island, Bimini, The Exumas, and The Abacos.
Virgin Islands Carnival
Carnival is the most anticipated cultural event of the year. Drawing on African and European customs including music, dancing and masquerades, Carnival can be found throughout the Caribbean and is celebrated on various islands at different times of the year. In the United States Virgin Islands Carnival events take place on St. Thomas in April/May, St. Croix in December/January and St. John in June/July.
Dec 22 – Full Moon Parties
At various locations around the islands, venues, restaurants and beachfront bars put on special Full Moon parties, complete with live music and libations! One of the most legendary locations in the British Virgin Islands is Trellis Bay where vendors line the beach selling local arts and crafts, and partygoers get their groove on to live calypso music. At midnight, a giant fireball is set ablaze in the bay. The newest venue is Paradise Club in Cane Garden Bay on Tortola while if you are on Virgin Gorda make your way to Cocomaya where they celebrate the big moon in style.
And if you're lucky enough to find yourself in the Abacos during a full moon, a visit to Cracker P’s is a must. Complete with buffet, water views, dancing, beach games and bonfire, the party goes well into the night and next morning.

Hundreds of sailors from around the world will gather in Tortola’s Nanny Cay Marina for the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival when it returns for its 48th edition on 25 March 2018. The festival kicks off with three days of coastal racing and parties, followed by a Maritime Heritage Day at Nanny Cay. The week then culminates with the main event, the Spring Regatta. Three days of non-stop, competitive racing action will take place in and around Sir Francis Drake Channel with racing divisions for one-design, bareboat and performance cruising yachts to name just a few.
Last year’s festival included the very first overnight Full Moon Race, which saw competitors traverse 64 islands all in one night. This is expected to return for the 2018 edition, alongside the Round Tortola Race and an inter-island pursuit race. Before, during and after the racing, the Regatta Village takes on a carnival-like atmosphere with food, drinks, games and live entertainment.

27 April to 3 May
Antigua Sailing Week 2019 will be the 52nd edition of the regatta. Antigua Sailing Week has become one of the biggest events in the international sailing calendar and it is one of the most fantastic times to visit Antigua and take advantage of an island-wide party.
Antigua Sailing Week began in 1967 with only 10 boats, and at times has had over 200 entries. You don't have to be a sailor however, to enjoy the festivities of Antigua Sailing Week. Most of the racing is off the south coast of Antigua with some of the fleet going up the west coast to Jolly Harbour on Thursday. The Event Village is located in Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbour and is the central point at which all the crews gather after the day’s racing is finished to exchange stories and enjoy happy hour from 3 to 6 pm. There is a combination of background and live music every day and evening in the Event Village and some nights there are parties in various other locations.
There are several famous Antigua Sailing Week Lay Day events held at Antigua Yacht Club in Falmouth Harbour.
